South Korea Airport Transfers: Incheon to Seoul

Incheon International Airport is 60 km west of central Seoul, on Yeongjong Island. Getting from the airport to the city — or to other Korean destinations — involves choosing between several well-developed options.

AREX Train (Airport Railroad Express)

The AREX is the most efficient connection between the airport and central Seoul.

Express Train:

• Incheon Airport T1 → Seoul Station in 43 minutes
• Non-stop service
• Cost: approximately KRW 9,500 (one way)
• Departs every 30–40 minutes
• Comfortable, with designated luggage areas
• Continues to T2 (adds ~6 minutes) if you are departing from T2

All-Stop Train:

• Same route with intermediate stops (Cheongna, Digital Media City, Hongik University, etc.)
• Journey time: approximately 66 minutes to Seoul Station
• Cost: approximately KRW 4,150 (one way)
• More affordable; useful if your hotel is near an intermediate station

The AREX connects to Seoul’s metro system at Seoul Station, allowing onward journeys to most neighbourhoods without changing to a taxi.

Limousine Bus

Comfortable express buses connect Incheon Airport directly to major hotel zones across Seoul and other cities.

• Cost: approximately KRW 14,000–18,000 to Seoul
• Journey time: 60–90 minutes depending on destination and traffic
• Routes cover Gangnam, Jongno, Myeongdong, Hongdae, and other zones
• Buses also run to Suwon, Incheon city centre, and other Gyeonggi Province cities
• Bus stops are clearly marked in the arrivals halls of both T1 and T2

Useful if your hotel is not near a metro station.

Taxi

Taxis are available from the ground floor of both terminals.

• Regular metered taxi: KRW 60,000–80,000 to central Seoul; longer/shorter trips vary
• Deluxe (black) taxi: more comfortable, higher rate
• Kakao T app: can be used to book from the airport; shows fare estimate in advance

Taxis are more expensive than the AREX but offer direct, door-to-door service which can be worthwhile for heavy luggage, groups, or late-night arrivals when train frequency drops.

Private Transfer

Pre-booked private transfers from the airport to Seoul provide fixed pricing, guaranteed availability, and a named driver meeting you in arrivals — useful for business travel, families with luggage, or late arrivals.

Getting to Busan or Other Cities

KTX from Seoul Station: After taking AREX to Seoul Station, the KTX high-speed train reaches Busan in 2 hours 15 minutes, Daejeon in 50 minutes, and Gwangju in 1 hour 40 minutes.

Intercity buses from the airport: Direct express buses serve several cities beyond Seoul, including Daejeon, Suwon, and Incheon city centre, departing from the airport bus terminal.

Within Incheon Airport

The two terminals are connected by a free shuttle train (5 minutes between T1 and T2). The AREX connects directly to both terminals. If you need to transfer between terminals for a connecting flight, allow at least 20 minutes.
